MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — A man caught on video violently kicking a small dog pleaded guilty to animal cruelty on Tuesday and was sentenced to three months in jail.

Police released a video of Chris Grant, 21, punting his girlfriend's tiny Pomeranian-Chihuahua like a soccer ball on an elevator at 3170 Broadway, which is part of Grant Houses housing projects in Harlem.

The 12-pound pooch, named "Chuvi-Duvi," was treated by the ASPCA and released in good condition, the agency said.

Grant was arrested two days later at his girlfriend's apartment. According to prosecutors, he made several efforts to resist arrest, continually pulling his hands away from the officers.

Grant is already serving a one-year jail sentence for an unrelated trespassing charge.

He was anticipating a lighter sentence in the trespass case, but a criminal court judge withdrew the option after realizing Grant was the man captured video assaulting the helpless canine.
