MANHATTAN — Former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress won't be getting out of the Big House anytime soon.

The Department of Correction denied Burress' application to have his two year prison sentence converted to a work release, the Associated Press reported Thursday.

Burress had applied just three months into his sentence to be allowed to get out of prison, but the Manhattan District Attorney had vociferously opposed the work release request, saying it was too soon.

Now, Burress will have to wait until July before he can apply again.

Burress was sentenced to two years in September for shooting himself inside a Manhattan nightclub.
