RIVER NORTH — The next restaurant from Lettuce Entertain You is Sushi-San, which promises to bring "hand rolls and hip-hop" to River North.
Social media accounts created by the massive Chicago restaurant company Wednesday announced that Sushi-San will open this fall at 59 W. Grand Ave.
Visitors to the restaurant's new website can enter a drawing for a free trip for two to Japan.
Led by executive sushi chef Kaze Chan, chef/partner Doug Psaltis and Lettuce Entertain You's Melman family, Sushi-San will feature hand rolls and maki rolls, Bintochan-grilled meats and vegetables, roll-your-own sushi, nigiri bombs and signature Oma-Kaze menus, a Lettuce spokeswoman said.
Drinks will include beer, Japanese whisky and shaved-ice cocktails, she said. Guests at the restaurant will vibe to hip-hop music in an environment somewhat similar to the quickly growing Furious Spoon ramen mini-chain also out of Chicago.
Sushi-San will open two blocks from Lettuce Entertain You's Ramen-san restaurant, at 59 W. Hubbard St.
Sushi-San will take over a Grand Avenue storefront left vacant when Osteria La Madia closed in March.
The restaurant's opening date and other details will be announced later, the spokeswoman said.
