LOGAN SQUARE — For #TBT, check out when the Logan Square Blue Line was under construction in 1969.

The old photo shows crews laying the groundwork for the leaky subway station we all know and love.

Here's what Logan Square Preservation has to say about the photo:

Many still remember the construction of the new subway for the Blue Line through Logan Square. This image looks north and west from the original tracks in 1969. The buildings that are visible in the photo are on the north side of Logan Square and still stand today. During the excavation pumps had to run almost constantly to keep water out because of soil conditions and our proximity to the Chicago River. Water still seeps into the train station today.

DNAinfo is partnering with Logan Square Preservation on a "Throwback Thursday" post each week. All photos are the property of Logan Square Preservation unless otherwise indicated.
