WOODLAWN — Daley’s Restaurant was converted into "Clem’s Joint" Monday for filming of the television show “Empire.”

The show was expected to film in Chicago’s oldest restaurant, 809 E. 63rd St., through Tuesday.

The details of what will happen in the restaurant remain something of a mystery.

Clem’s Joint does not appear to have appeared or been referenced in the show before. But it is expected to appear early in the fourth season. Filming permits indicate the set is for the second episode.

Those watching the filming underneath the Green Line tracks didn’t suspect anything good would happen in Clem’s in the show, with speculation that the plot would include a bargain being made in the restaurant or nefarious activity covered up in a back room.

The show will be shooting at Daley's through at least Tuesday.
