LINCOLN PARK — A truck making a turn at the corner of Clark Street and Fullerton Parkway took down a section of scaffolding in front of the Five Guys burger shop Monday morning, according to the scaffolding company.

"They overlay the sidewalk all the time," said Robert Lopez, manager for United Scaffolding on the project at 2368 N. Clark St. "So when there's a canopy and they don't calculate, they hit it."

No one was injured, but a masonry contractor was reported to have gotten the license plate of the truck that clipped the scaffolding.

The city approved a building permit in June for bricks to be replaced and for tuckpointing repairs at the site. The scaffolding is more extensive on the Fullerton side, but the truck took down the scaffolding on a shorter section on Clark.

According to Lopez, the accident happened shortly before noon, and it took about two hours for the scaffolding to be re-erected. Finishing touches were being done shortly after 2 p.m.
