Charley Noble Sandwich Shop Celebrates Grand Opening In Portage Park

CHICAGO — Italian subs and artisan reubens landed in Portage Park on Tuesday with the official opening of Charley Noble, 6011 W. Irving Park Road, owners Melissa and Joe Basilone announced on Facebook.

The Basilones first teased the "modern sandwich shop" last month, heralding the couple's fourth business in the Irving Austin Business District.

The restaurant's menu sports 18 signature sandwiches — including six vegetarian or vegan options — plus soup, salad and a kids' menu.

The restaurateurs keyed their focus on fresh ingredients, sourcing their bread, veggies and cold cuts from nearby farms "whenever possible," Joe Basilone said in June.

And between wall art designed by tattoo artist Nick Colella and a window logo courtesy of Atomic Jane Design, the 14-seat eatery is "the coolest storefront in Portage Park right now," the owners wrote in a Monday night Facebook post.

Charley Noble is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sundays.

The owners hope to add a delivery service after a few months, Basilone said.
