EDGEWATER — A new Wingstop restaurant is set to open inside the former Broadway Treasure Hunt antique store in Edgewater, according to permits.

On Friday, a permit for Broadway Wings Inc. was issued to Asif Rajabali for a renovation of the storefront into a new Wingstop location.

The kitschy collectible Broadway Treasure Hunt shop at 6024-26 N. Broadway closed in fall 2014 and has sat vacant since. The storefront is within a small, four-business plaza and adjacent to Patio Beef.

According to its website, Wingstop is "not in the wing business" but "in the flavor business" and applies that theory when tossing its chicken wings in one of 11 signature sauces.

The menu includes both traditional and boneless wings, as well as chicken tenders, which can be paired with flavored sauces like mango habanero, Cajun, mild, hot and atomic, hickory smoked barbecue, garlic parmesan, lemon pepper and more.

There are 18 other Wingstops across Chicago and more than 1,000 locations worldwide.

Rajabali owns other franchises in Northern Illinois, including several Dunkin' Donuts and additional Wingstop locations in the suburbs. He could not be reached.
