HYDE PARK — It’s easy to get a history lesson on the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition on the site of the fair with free tours every Saturday through October.
At 11 a.m. every Saturday, Friends of the White City Tours Chicago will lead two-hour walking tours starting from the parking lots behind the Museum of Science and Industry in Jackson Park.
Tour groups will meet at Clarence Darrow bridge, 1766 Columbia Drive, which is just west of the parking lots where the Columbia Basin meets the lagoons around Wooded Island.
The tours run rain or shine, unless weather is dangerous, and people should come dressed appropriately.
The tours run for two hours and cover many of the former locations of the buildings of the fair and the remaining artifacts from the fair.
