DOWNTOWN — They say a picture is worth 1,000 words, but in this case, it can be worth a year's supply of Portillo's — depending on how much you eat.

The local chain known for cake shakes and Chicago-style hot dogs is celebrating National Italian Beef Month by giving away tons of food and other prizes.

Customers can enter by taking a photo at Portillo's, tagging @portilloshotdogs and using the hashtag #MeatUpSweeps and post it to Twitter or Instagram.

Those who post photos through May 31 will be entered into a drawing to win $900 worth of prizes:

• "Free Portillo's for a year" ($700 gift card)

• Portillo's catering for up to 16 people

• Portillo's branded merchandise

Such a prize would be good for more than 120 Italian Beef sandwiches, 234 Chicago-style dogs or 150 large chocolate cake shakes. And that's before your Portillo's catered party.

Portillo's, which got its start in the '60s as a modest hot dog stand in suburban Villa Park, has two locations in Chicago: 100 W. Ontario St. and 520 W. Taylor St.
