LOGAN SQUARE — For #ThrowbackThursday, check out the scene of a "patriotic parade" that marched through Logan Square in 1918 before the end of the Great War.

Here's what Logan Square Preservation has to say about the photo:

It was also before the construction of the Illinois Centennial Monument and the re-routing of Kedzie/Logan around the square (it used to pass through it just like Milwaukee does today). The parade and event was a fundraiser to send care packages to those serving overseas and was organized, in part, by local resident Elsie Hilliger, who lived on Logan Boulevard just east of Albany.

DNAinfo is partnering with Logan Square Preservation on a "Throwback Thursday" post each week. All photos are the property of Logan Square Preservation unless otherwise indicated.
