CHICAGO — Chicago Public Schools has released its proposed schedule for the 2017-18 academic year.

All high school and elementary school students are expected start classes on Sept. 5, the day after Labor Day, according to the calendar. The school year is set to end on June 16, 2018.

The first official day of winter break is Christmas, which falls on a Monday. That means students' actual break begins on Saturday, Dec. 23. They return to class on Jan. 8, 2018.

Spring break is set to begin on March 26, 2018.

The Board of Education is expected to approve the proposed schedule at its meeting Wednesday.
