GARFIELD PARK — Local community-building group My Block, My Hood, My City will celebrate Earth Day by partnering with Chicago FarmWorks to prepare for spring planting Sunday.
Group founder and Chatham resident Jahmal Cole wants to bring together people from across the city to join his "One Block at a Time" initiative. Volunteers will be in East Garfield Park at Chicago FarmWorks, a 2.6 acre urban farm that donates over 10,000 pounds of produce to Chicago food banks. FarmWorks is a program from Heartland Alliance.
Volunteers can meet at 400 N. Albany Ave. from 1- 4 p.m.
"We would love for our volunteers to rep My Block, My Hood, My City on this day, so please plan to wear your MBMHMC apparel or come prepared to purchase one of our special edition 'Green' tees at the event," Cole posted on Facebook.
