LOGAN SQUARE — The Sunday Logan Square shooting that wounded a 19-year-old woman was not gang-related, a representative for 35th Ward Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa said Friday.

Neither the woman nor the passengers in the car are affiliated with gangs, according to Rosa's chief of staff Monica Trevino, who spoke with district police.

About 6 p.m. Sunday, the woman was in a car driving in the 3500 block of West Shakespeare Avenue — a quiet block lined with vintage flats — when someone outside the car fired shots, striking her in her shoulder, police said.

The woman took herself to Community First Hospital, but was later taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where she was listed in good condition, police said.

As of Friday afternoon, no one was in custody, Trevino said.
