DOWNTOWN — It's a record-breaking warm day in Chicago.

The city was expected to see temperature hit the high 60s — maybe 70 — on Friday, but it topped out at 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The record for March 24 at O'Hare was 79 degrees and was set in 1939.

A warm, relatively gray weekend is expected, meteorologists said, with temperatures hitting the mid- to upper 40s along the lakefront and 50s elsewhere in the city Saturday. Showers and storms that start Friday night could linger into Saturday morning.

Temperatures are expected to be in the low 50s Sunday, with rain in the morning and clouds during the day.
