DUNNING — From book clubs to arts and crafts, the Dunning branch of the Chicago Public Library is offering a wide range of programs every week, for residents of all ages.
Programs for kids
• On Thursday, a librarian will host a "fun-filled interactive story time" at 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for children ages 2 to 5.
• The library will host a party themed around the Disney hit "Frozen" at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, intended for kids ages 4-9. The event will include "books, games, crafts, snacks, and more." Participants are asked to register in advance.
• At 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 9, kids ages 9-13 are invited to "socialize, explore and do fun activities" at the library's "Tween Scene" event.
• A "Family Science Night" invites kids ages 5-12 to create mazes for "recon rover robot races." The event kicks off at 6 p.m. Feb. 15.
• On Feb. 23, kids ages 9-11 can take part in the library's monthly book club discussion, this time around "Smile" by Raina Relgemeier. The discussion starts at 4:30 p.m.
• The non-profit Project Linus, which makes blankets for sick children, will enlist help from volunteers 12 and older at 11 a.m. Feb. 25. Participants are asked to bring 1½ yards of fleece and a pair of scissors.
Programs for adults
• February's book club, set for 1 p.m. Monday, will discuss "The Wonder" by Emma Donague. Copies of the book can be checked out at the circulation desk.
• Engage in "mindful coloring" to "soothing music" at the library at 6 p.m. Monday. Coloring sheets and pencils will be provided, as will cookies and coffee.
• At 1 p.m. Tuesday, the library will host a cookbook discussion of "The Illustrated Kitchen Table." Participants are asked to try some recipes from the book, then "dish on what worked and what didn't."
• At 10 a.m. Feb. 11, a representative of Chicago One Financial will give a presentation on how to access social security benefits.
• Participants are asked to register ahead of time for "Creative Crafts for Adults," set for 6 p.m. Feb. 27. Attendees will "explore a variety of media and techniques."
