RAVENSWOOD — Fountainhead is trading pints for poems Wednesday during the pub's Robert Burns birthday bash.

Anyone brave enough to have a go at reading Burns' verse — typically written in Scots dialect — will be rewarded with a free bottle of Traquair Jacobite Scotch Ale.

For the verse averse, brews will cost $7 and drams of whiskey are $8.

Burns, considered the national poet of Scotland, was born Jan. 25, 1759. To mark the occasion, Fountainhead is celebrating with a special lineup of Scotch whisky, beers and food, including Scotch eggs and lamb and parsnip meat pies.

Poetry readings will be held throughout the evening, 6-10 p.m., 1970 W. Montrose Ave.
