LOGAN SQUARE — The popular nightlife spot, East Room, is giving fans of comedy a chance to laugh for a good cause.

Chicago Underground Comedy teamed up with the bar, 2354 N. Milwaukee Ave., on the show, "Ja Ja Ja: Mexican Legal Defense Fund Benefit Standup Show," which is set for Wednesday, from 8-11 p.m.

A number of performers are scheduled to perform, including Gwen La Roka (Laugh Factory), Sammy Arechar (MTV), Jasbir Singh Vazquez (Second City), Audrey Jonas (Hoo-Ha Comedy), Oscar Carvajal (The Attic). The evening will be hosted by Stephanie Weber (Chicago Underground Comedy).

Proceeds will go toward the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, a long-standing nonprofit civil rights organization.

Last summer, Chicago Underground Comedy raised $2,000 for Planned Parenthood through a benefit show at East Room.

The comedy group performs weekly at the Beat Kitchen on Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

Tickets to the show cost $10 and can be bought online.
