Southwest Flight Emergency Landing At Midway After Bird Sucked Into Engine

MIDWAY — After a bird was sucked into one of the engines, a Southwest Airlines plane on the way to Las Vegas made an emergency landing at Midway International Airport Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The flight captain of Flight #105, a Boeing 737-800, took off at 9:56 a.m. and safely landed the plane at 10:07 a.m.

All 164 passengers and six crew members on board were safe at landing, the airline said in a statement:

“They will be accommodated on another aircraft and will arrive in Las Vegas approximately three hours late.”
