NORTH CENTER — One of the most highly anticipated restaurant openings of 2016 is now one of the most highly anticipated restaurant openings of 2017.

Kitsune and its Japanese-inspired cuisine are likely to debut by the end of January, chef/owner Iliana Regan said.

Regan, who also runs the Michelin-starred Elizabeth Restaurant in Lincoln Square, has applied for a liquor license and is awaiting city inspections.

"I can't count on anything yet given I need to really make sure everything [regarding licenses] is hanging on the walls," she said.

In the meantime, Regan has been teasing progress at Kitsune, 4229 N. Lincoln Ave., via Twitter and Instagram, and a sample menu is posted to the restaurant's website.
