Golden Toilets Popping Up Around City Have Simple Message: Dump Trump

CHICAGO — Guerrilla artists are planting golden toilets around Chicago to share a simple message:

They think Donald Trump belongs in one.

The toilets are the device of the Chicago-based Birch Reincliff Art Collective, a group of anonymous artists. For every toilet photo shared on Instagram tagged #donniethepoo, the collective will donate to one of numerous charities benefiting groups disparaged by Trump on the campaign trail.

"Donald Trump, he's something," one of the artists said.

The collective has 25 toilets and has already planted some of them by Water Tower Place, the "poop fountain" in Ukrainian Village, and other places. Much of the time the toilets are removed pretty quickly by city employees. More will be planted soon.

The toilets also come with Donnie The Poo dog toys and postcards addressed to the Republican National Committee. The toilets are tagged with the names of real and purported Trump allies including Russian President Vladimir Putin and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The artists declined to identify themselves out of concern of retaliation.

Non-profits benefiting from the cause include Planned Parenthood, Disabled American Veterans and the National Immigration Forum. The dog toys are also sold online, delivering $500 to the charities so far, the collective says.

Birch Reincliff says it will continue the campaign through Election Day. Unless Trump adds some "suspense" afterward.

"We can probably keep doing this as long as he's a piece" [of work], one of the artists said.
