Millennium Park Ice Rink To Open Next Month

MILLENNIUM PARK — It's almost skating season in Millennium Park. 

The Millennium Park ice rink will open Nov. 18, the same day as the park's tree lighting, city officials said Tuesday. 

Weather permitting, Nov. 18 will open the 16th season of the rink, which draws more than 100,000 skaters every year. Skating is free, but skate rentals cost $12. This season lasts through March 5, 2017. 

The rink will offer lessons and other events in addition to public skating. Here is when the rink will be open to the public this season:

• Noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday

• Noon to 10 p.m. on Friday

• 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 19 to Jan. 7)

• 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 14 to March 4)

• 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday

Special holiday hours

• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 24; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25

• 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24

• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25,; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26 to Friday, Dec. 30.

• 10 a.m. 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31

• 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Day, Sunday, Jan. 1

• 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 16

• 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Chicago Public School Improvement Day, Friday, Feb. 3

• 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 20
