IRVING PARK — With the addition of a single letter, Mirabell is going Italian.

Mirabella, 3454 W. Addison St., is coming soon, replacing the longtime German restaurant and its short-lived successor M Pub.

Owner Arturo Aucaquizhpi is a 20-year veteran of Gene & Georgetti steakhouse, where he worked his way up from line cook to executive chef.

A native of Ecuador, Aucaquizhpi moved to Chicago in 1992 at the age of 16. Coincidentally, one of his earliest jobs was as a bus boy at the Golden Ox, another dearly departed German restaurant.

Mirabell, owned by the Heil family since 1977, closed for good in July after a year-long "farewell tour," including briefly reopening as M Pub.
