ROSCOE VILLAGE — Lots of restaurants claim to make the best burger in Chicago, but only two have the burger-shaped trophies to back up those boasts.

VPT took home the Critics' Choice award from last weekend's Roscoe Village Burger Fest, and Square Bar & Grill won the People's Choice.

Perhaps best known for its deep-fried burger, VPT, 5754 N. Western Ave., impressed the judges with its spicy fire cracker slider: beef patty mixed with bacon bits, corn and jalapeno, topped with pepper jack cheese, habanero and pickled onions with cilantro lime mayo.

Square Bar & Grill, 2849 W. Belmont Ave., wooed the popular vote with its sesame ginger ramen burger.
