MORGAN PARK — Elsa the goat and Bandit the cat fit right in Friday beside 14 dogs at the annual Dog Days of Summer pet parade at Smith Village in Morgan Park.
The pet-friendly retirement community at 2320 W. 113th Place has hosted a pet parade since 2007. Some pets performed tricks and others wore costumes, according to Marti Jatis, an executive director at Smith Village.
“Because seniors enjoy spending time with animals and children, we put them all together for a morning of family fun,” Jatis said.
The winners included Zoe and Hope, a pair of Shih Tzus who participated as a team. Archie, a Bearded Collie Terrier and Maya, a Black Labrador, were also awarded baskets containing special treats and toys. Other participating pets received doggy bags.
