CHICAGO — A national beer brand is seeking to award CPS teachers and faculty for making it through the school year by offering gift cards to get free alcohol.
Redd's Apple Ale will be giving teachers "a different kind of apple" by offering free $25 gift cards Tuesday in Lincoln Park and Thursday in Near West Side.
Teachers and faculty from Chicago-area schools can receive the gift card by showing their valid school ID at either of the two locations:
• Tuesday at Binny's Beverage Depot, 1720 N. Marcey St., from 4-7 p.m.
• Thursday at Buffalo Wild Wings, 513 W. Taylor St., from 4-7 p.m.
The gift cards will be Visa cash cards and can be used wherever VIsa is accepted, although Redd's Apple Ale is encouraging teachers to use the cards at the businesses associated with the giveaway, a company spokeswoman said.
There will be 150 gift cards available at each event, the spokeswoman said. Only one gift card per teacher, and gift cards will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
