PORTAGE PARK — A group designed to teach Far Northwest Side children with special needs how to ask for help from police will host its first fundraiser.

C.J. Protects founders Victoria Benson and Barbara Murphy have sons with Autism, and they have said they want them to be comfortable asking for help from police officers and firefighters.

The group was named after Benson's son C.J., who briefly disappeared in September, sparking the idea for the group.

In April, the group hosted its first event — a tour of the Jefferson Park (16th) Police District headquarters.

A Bingo game will take place at 7 p.m. June 4 at Di's Den, 5100 W. Irving Park Road.

Nine Bingo sheets, with three games on each sheet, are $20. Winners will win cash, and a raffle for Chicago Cubs tickets will also take place, organizers said.

Di's Den, which only accepts cash, will offer food and drink specials, organizers said.
