LINCOLN SQUARE — Eagle-eyed neighbors saw the butcher paper come down on Wednesday and that's all it took for Bang Bang Pie to announce its Lincoln Square location was officially open.
"It was busier than the original Bang Bang was on opening day" with less fanfare, said owner Michael Ciapciak. "That's all I wanted."
A steady stream of customers and neighboring business owners filed into the shop, 4947 N. Damen Ave., throughout the day and kept staff hopping with orders for Bang Bang's signature biscuits and pie.
"The response from the neighborhood is very encouraging, it's been very rewarding," Ciapciak said.
"In our heart, we're a neighborhood place," he said. "I'm thrilled there's new people we'll be able to welcome, to be exposed to a whole new group of regulars."
Count people like Jodi Masterson, who lives nearby, and her pal Laura Rogers, from Irving Park, among Bang Bang's opening day converts — neither of them had ever visited Bang Bang's original Logan Square bakery.
Masterson, who got a sneak peek of the shop during Lincoln Square recent wine stroll, saw the news about Bang Bang's opening on Facebook and immediately messaged Rogers.
"Let's go," Masterson suggested. "Right now."
"This space is super cute, it's got a good vibe," Masterson said.
And the food, "Oh my god. I had the wedge biscuit — I would eat that again," she said.
Bang Bang's regular hours will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays (closed Tuesdays) and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
