GRAND BOULEVARD — A stretch of 47th Street around the Green Line station will get some sprucing up this month.

Starting in May, contractors for the 47th Street Streetscape will start installing decorative pavers and planting trees on 47th between State Street and Martin Luther King Drive, according to Ald. Pat Dowell’s 3rd Ward office.

Crews will plant honey locus, Kentucky coffee and patriot elm trees, which are resistant to Dutch elm disease, along the stretch of Bronzeville’s major commercial strip.

Broken and damaged concrete is also expected to be repaired.
