SOUTH SHORE — Once a year, South Side historian Timuel Black gets a day to hold court and tell stories with a jazz band.
This year, Black will be at the Stony Island Arts Bank, 6760 S. Stony Island Ave., from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on May 2.
Black will be joined in the conversation by artist Theaster Gates, University of Chicago director of arts and public life, and Jacqueline Stewart, interim director of the university’s Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry.
Musician David Boykin is also scheduled to perform.
The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and those who wish to attend are encouraged to email Bart Schultz at rschultz@uchicago.edu to reserve a spot.
