LOGAN SQUARE — The restaurant group behind Longman & Eagle and Parson's Chicken & Fish is planning a rooftop patio in Logan Square.

Land & Sea Dept., the group, applied for a special use permit to build an outdoor rooftop patio at the former Ronny's punk club, 2101 N. California Ave.

The group applied for the license last week, but has been working on the project for more than three years.

There has been little progress since the project was first announced in April 2013 with a working name of California Point.

Land & Sea applied for the rooftop patio under the name Golden Teardrops, LLC., but it is not clear if that is the actual name of the project.

A spokesperson for the group could not be reached Monday.

The space had been completely gutted down to the cinder block exterior until very recently, when work began.

Land & Sea applied for buildings permits to rehab the space in April of 2015.

The permits estimated the cost of the project at $220,000 and included renovating and rehabbing the one and two story structures on the property for a new tavern/restaurant.

The second floor of the space was permitted to be used as a kitchen.

Ronny's, a run-down punk music mainstay, closed in 2010.
