BRIDGEPORT — By the time the barkeeps at Bernice's Tavern yelled last call Monday night, folks from all over the neighborhood and beyond had donated more than 1,800 gallons of water and $700 cash for people suffering from the lead contamination crisis in Flint, Mich.
The cases of water began to stack up early Monday, when two suburban women — a cancer survivor and a woman with an uncle in Flint — dropped off eight cases.
The 1,800 gallons of donated water and $700 cash is now on the way to Flint.
