Cast a Vote for Horner Park's New Playground Design

IRVING PARK — Horner Park's playground has been tapped for a makeover and neighbors are being asked to weigh in on the design of the new equipment.

Four designs have been presented to the Horner Park Advisory Council, which has created an online survey to gather feedback on the options. The surface material will remain engineered wood fibar.

Voting is open through Feb. 1.

The playground upgrade comes courtesy of the Chicago Plays! program, which is a partnership between the Chicago Park District and Friends of the Parks. Mayor Rahm Emanuel launched the program in 2013, with a goal of renovating 325 playgrounds over five years.

Chicago Plays! picks up the tab for the playground, with park supporters pitching in to spread the fibar chips once equipment is in place.
