CHICAGO — Chicago Public Schools has released its schedule for the 2016-17 academic year.
All high school and elementary school students will start classes on Sept. 6, the day after Labor Day, according to the calendar. The school year is set to end on June 20, 2017.
But students' winter break won't start until Dec. 24 — Christmas Eve — and they'll return to classes on Jan. 9, 2017. That's a change from this year, when CPS students were out of school for the week leading into Christmas, getting off after Dec. 18 and returning Jan. 4.
