ROSCOE VILLAGE — Bow Truss Coffee Roasters was aiming to open in Roscoe Village by the end of the year, and with just weeks to spare, owner Phil Tadros hit that goal.
The coffee shop quietly began serving customers on Saturday at 2004 W. Roscoe St.
Those familiar with other locations of the rapidly expanding Bow Truss will notice a handful of signature touches: the HiFi Case speakers, vintage cash register and chalkboard menu.
The otherwise minimalist decor is dominated by a feature unique to Roscoe Village: a "See What Happens" art installation by Matthew Hoffman, the guy behind those positive "You Are Beautiful" and "Anything Is Possible" messages that dot the city.
Though coffee is the star of the show — with cold brew and single-origin espressos gaining in popularity — Bow Truss has gradually been adding food options, according to staffer Rebecca Ridge.
Joining slices of pie from Rustic Tart are Do-Rite Donuts, Lucila's Homemade Alfajores and Mama's Nuts.
Bow Truss Roscoe Village is open seven days a week, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
