U.S. Bank in Mount Greenwood Robbed on Friday Morning, FBI Says

MOUNT GREENWOOD — The U.S. Bank branch at 11159 S. Kedzie Ave. in Mount Greenwood was robbed at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, according to a spokeswoman with the FBI in Chicago.

The robber remains at large. He did not show a weapon at the time of the robbery, according to information provided by the FBI on Monday afternoon.

A security camera captured an image of the bank robber. He's described as a black man between 5 feet, 11 inches and 6 feet, 1 inch. It's believed he weighs between 200-240 pounds and is in his mid-30s or mid-40s, according to the FBI's website.

The robber's head was covered during the robbery with a black knit cap. He also wore a black hooded jacket and blue jeans, according to the FBI's description.

An unspecified reward is being offered for information about the bank robber, according to Diane Carbonara, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Chicago.

Anyone with information about the bank robbery is asked to call 312-421-6700.

Also last week, two men robbed the Verizon Wireless store at 11101 S. Kedzie Ave. in Mount Greenwood. The robbers were armed with handguns as they entered the cellphone store at 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The robbers fled with various electronic devices, personal belongings from several of the victims and an undetermined amount of cash, police said. Detectives with the Chicago Police Department are investigating the store robbery.
