4 Killed, 19 Wounded in Shootings Since Saturday Morning: Police

CHICAGO — Shootings left four people dead (including a 14-year-old boy) and 19 wounded between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, police said.

In the most recent fatal shooting, police found a man shot multiple times in West Pullman around 5:24 a.m. Sunday. He was later pronounced dead.

Six people were shot, one fatally, in Englewood around 2.a.m. Sunday morning, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. Police said the shooting led to a car crash that left another six people injured.

Around 8 p.m. Saturday, 14-year-old boy was killed and a 15-year-old was wounded in a shooting in Kenwood.

A 38-year-old man was found shot to death in Humboldt Park around 6 p.m. Saturday night, Estrada said.

• In the most recent nonfatal shooting, a man was shot during an argument at an Edgewater gas station around 3:54 a.m., Estrada said.

• At 3:25 a.m., a 29-year-old man was riding a bicycle on the 1400 block of East 87th Street in Calumet Heights when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his lower left calf, Estrada said.

The man biked to Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in good condition after being treated, Estrada said.

• At 3:07 a.m., Estrada said, a 24-year-old man was shot in his groin in the 5500 block of South Wabash Avenue in Washington Park.

Police could not immediately provide the man's condition, or the circumstances behind the shooting.

• At 2:36 a.m., Estrada said, a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were standing next to a parked car in the 2200 block of South Kolin Avenue in North Lawndale when a man dressed in black walked out of an alley and shot at them.

The man was was shot in his shoulder and the woman was shot in her left arm, Estrada said. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. Police could not provide their conditions, except that they had stabilized.

• Around 1:35 a.m., a 33-year-old man was standing in the 5300 block of West Congress Parkway in South Austin when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, Estrada said, where he was listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound in his groin.

• At 8:15 p.m. Saturday, two men, 34 and 27, were standing in the 3400 block of West Flournoy Street in East Garfield Park when they heard gunshots and felt pain, Estrada said. Both men then ran into a nearby building, where they collapsed.

The 27-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his chest, Estrada said.

The 34-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized after he was shot in his right leg, Estrada said.

Police said both men are documented gang members.

• Around 4:10 p.m. Saturday, a 35-year-old man was walking in the 6200 block of South Paulina Avenue in West Englewood when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, Estrada said.

Police said the man is an documented gang member, and he was not cooperating with authorities.

• Around 2 p.m. Saturday, police said two teen boys were shot in the 0-100 block of West Pershing Road in Bronzeville near the former site of the Robert Taylor Homes, according to the Tribune. They were in a car when someone pulled up alongside them and fired shots. The shooters, possibly in a maroon SUV, fled north on State Street.

The 17-year-old was grazed in the arm and the 16-year-old was shot in the leg. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where they were listed in good condition, police said, the Tribune reported.

• About two hours earlier, around noon, a 19-year-old man was shot and wounded in Washington Heights in the 700 block of West 99th Street. He was hit in his arm and taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition, police said, according to the Tribune.

• Around 8 a.m. Saturday, Estrada said, a 30-year-old woman showed up at Jackson Park Hospital with a gunshot wound in her leg.

Police said the circumstances behind the shooting were unclear, but she said she was shot at the intersection of 84th Street and Ingleside Avenue in Chatham.
