CHICAGO — With the official launch of uberESPAÑOL Thursday, riders can now request a Spanish-speaking driver anywhere in the city.
After a successful pilot program, Uber Chicago officially launched uberESPAÑOL Thursday, allowing uberX riders to request a ride with a Spanish-speaking driver wherever they are. The service is offered at no additional cost.
The new service aims to better serve the needs of Spanish-speaking Chicagoans, said Chris Taylor, Uber Chicago's general manager. Nearly 30 percent of Chicago's population in Hispanic.
“Chicago is a diverse city enriched by many wonderful cultures, especially the Hispanic community,” Taylor said. “As we expand uberESPAÑOL across the city, we look forward to continuing to improve the quality of life for all Chicagoans.”
Riders can request a Spanish-speaking driver in the app by sliding left to the uberX option and then selecting "Español."
