IRVING PARK — In the wake of last week's fatal shooting of Manuel Arizaga, which police suspect may have been the result of a robbery gone awry, Irving Park residents are rallying in support of the delivery man's young family, and coming together to strengthen ties among neighbors.

A community meeting is being hosted at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 3646 N. St. Louis Ave., the same block in which Arizaga, a married father of two, was gunned down early last Friday morning.

Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35th) is expected to participate, as well as representatives from Murphy Elementary, where Arizaga's stepchild is enrolled. The school is coordinating donations for the family.

The purpose of the meeting, according to organizers, is to prompt discussion about how to keep the neighborhood united, engaged and safe.
