BRIDGEPORT —  A well-placed White Sox dinger could soon be worth a lot of dough to a local charity.

After inking a sponsorship deal with Maytag, Major League Baseball installed a Maytag washing machine in the visitor’s bullpen at U.S. Cellular Field.

If a hitter from either the White Sox or the visiting teams smacks a home run ball into the washer’s mouth, Maytag will donate $1 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago.

The “Million Dollar Home Run” promotion went live on July 17 and will continue through the 2015 season.

With the washer’s installation, the Sox join the company of the Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers. Each team has its own Maytag washer in the bullpen.

In addition to the “Million Dollar” deal, there will be a “Filthiest Plays of the Week” promotion.” Fans can pick their favorite “filthiest” plays by hopping on Twitter and using this hashtag: #FilthiestPlay.
