HYDE PARK — Saul Bellow will get a 100th birthday party from his neighbors, even if the novelist is no longer here to celebrate.
The Nobel-Prize-winning author died in 2005 and would have turned 100 on Wednesday, a milestone that will be celebrated at 6 p.m. at the Harold Washington Library, 400 S. State St.
Author Scott Turow and Eugene Kennedy will talk about the life and work of Bellow, who by some accounts never truly became comfortable living in Chicago until he moved to Hyde Park.
Vitalist Theatre will perform Joanne Koch’s adaptation of Bellow’s short story “The Silver Dish.”
The events are free and open to the public.
