BRIDGEPORT — Major renovations to Taylor-Lauridsen Park’s ball fields began Wednesday.

Expected to take between four and five weeks to complete, the field improvements will include a sub-surface drainage system, scoreboard, crowning and new bleachers.

There will be no baseball practices at the field until renovations are finished in late July.

The improvement project will cost more than $100,000, according to Janet McCormick, a member of the Taylor-Lauridsen Park Advisory Council.

Chicago Park District officials and former Ald. James Balcer (11th Ward) unveiled the renovation plans at a March 12 meeting, where residents got a glimpse of project renderings.
