CITY HALL — Mayor Rahm Emanuel will celebrate his second inauguration by throwing open the doors to his City Hall offices.

Emanuel has announced that the inauguration ceremony will take place at the Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State St., starting at 10:30 a.m. May 18. Tickets have already been allotted to the public, but there is a waiting list for those still interested.

But there's no waiting list — only a possible wait in line — for the open house Emanuel will hold on the Fifth Floor of City Hall that afternoon along with his wife, Amy Rule. That's set for 2-4 p.m.

The mayor, the City Council — including 13 new aldermen — and Treasurer Kurt Summers and City Clerk Susana Mendoza will all be inaugurated before noon at the theater that day.

The mayor has declared a weekend of events leading up to the inauguration, including a Day of Service for volunteering on Saturday and the third annual Night Out in the Parks on Sunday.
