CHICAGO — A popular Lincoln Park hot dog joint will be temporarily closing its doors.

Franks 'N' Dawgs, at 1863 N. Clybourn Ave., announced via email Thursday that it would be closing temporarily and ending its reward program.

"We regret to inform you that we will be temporarily closing our doors. Sadly, this means our Rewards Program will be coming to an end," the email said. No reason for the closing was given.

An employee at the restaurant said news of the closing came as a shock. He could not provide additional details about the closing Thursday afternoon.

The restaurant's owner, Alexander Brunacci, was not available for comment. Brunacci is also the owner of the Peasantry, 2723 N. Clark St.

Franks 'N' Dawgs said its aim was to "elevate street food" by combining fine-dining chefs and high-quality ingredients with traditional hot dog cart fare. The restaurant uses locally sourced ingredients to make their sausages and toppings in-house, according to its website.

The rewards program will still be available for use at the Peasantry, DMK Restaurants and Butcher & the Burger.
