Pilgrim Baptist Church to Host 10th Ward Candidates Forum

HYDE PARK — Pilgrim Baptist Church will host of full night of politics with a forum with three mayoral candidates and five contenders for alderman of the 10th Ward on Tuesday.

The evening starts at 6 p.m. at the church at 3235 E. 91st St., with the candidates trying to unseat Ald. John Pope. Susan Sadlowski Garza, Richard Martinez, Frank Corona, Olga Bautista and Juan Huizar are all confirmed participants, but Pope and Samantha Webb have not yet said they will participate.

Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, William “Dock” Walls and Willie Wilson will outline their platforms for mayor at 7:15 p.m.

Each candidate will be asked to take a position on labor and jobs, immigration, domestic violence, housing and the $4 billion Lakeside Development project at the former U.S. Steel site.
