ROSCOE VILLAGE — Volunteers are needed Saturday to help clear the woods at Clark Park in advance of spring planting of new trees.
Join members of the Clark Park Advisory Council, Openlands and the organizers of The Garden Dirt Jumps as they clear out dead trees and invasive species from 9 a.m.-noon at the park, 3400 N. Rockwell St.
Learn how to identify and remove invasive species and how to identify dying trees.
Volunteers will also clean up litter and other debris and prepare the soil for tree planting in the spring.
Clark Park occupies nearly 10 acres of land along the Chicago River, situated, in part, in the footprint of the long-defunct Riverview Amusement Park. Features include the new WMS Boathouse and bike jump trails.
