BRIDGEPORT — Two neighborhood parks are next in line for playground renovations as part of the city's Chicago Plays! Initiative.
Work is underway at Humbert Park, 3050 S. Lowe Ave. and McKeon Playlot Park, 3548 S. Wallace. A Park District spokeswoman said both projects are expected to be completed by the end of November.
The playground replacements are part of the Chicago Plays! initiative, launched by Mayor Rahm Emanuel in 2013 with the goal of refurbishing some 300 parks throughout the city.
Each individual project rehab or construction costs about $125,000. Citywide, the program's total cost is estimated at $37.5 million.
The work on the Bridgeport parks caps off a long list of other recent renovations, including playground upgrades at McKinley Park, Kucinski-Murphy Park, Hoyne Park, Armour Square Park, McGuane Park and Donovan Park.
