WEST ROGERS PARK — Boone Elementary School plans to open its new, larger library Friday.

A grant from Target and the Heart of America Foundation paid for the upgrade, which includes 32 iPads, two computers and 2,000 new books.

"We've got a brand-new library here at Boone Elementary School," principal Jaclyn Delaney said in a statement.

She said she found out the school was awarded the grant about six months ago.

Volunteers, many of them Target employees, helped ready the library before Chicago Public Schools began construction last month.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the library is planned for 10:45 a.m. Friday at Boone, 6710 N. Washtenaw Ave.
