ROGERS PARK — The Rogers Park library branch will be closed for two weeks beginning Monday as crews install new carpeting and make other improvements, Ald. Joe Moore (49th) said.
Books cannot be returned to the branch until it reopens Oct. 4.
The 15-year-old carpet is being replaced using money allocated from Moore's participatory budgeting program. More than 1,000 people voted to have the branch re-carpeted at an expected cost of $100,000.
Moore said in an email to constituents on Sunday that other work to be done at the branch includes roof repairs, fresh paint inside, cleaning and filling of potholes in the parking lot.
Moore said the Rogers Park branch has the third highest circulation in the city and sees 600-700 visitors a day.
During the next two weeks, patrons are encouraged to visit either the Edgewater branch, 6000 North Broadway, and the Northtown branch, 6435 N. California Ave.
