DOWNTOWN — World Cup fever is spreading, and Soldier Field will host a watch party as the U.S. soccer team faces Belgium on Tuesday, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced Sunday.
Gates open at 1:30 p.m. for the 3 p.m. match. Admission is free, but regular Soldier Field parking rates will be in effect.
ESPN's broadcast of the Round of 16 game will be shown on the north end zone video board. Fans can watch in the stands or on the field. Souvenirs, food, soft drinks and beer will be sold during the game.
Thousands of fans packed Grant Park to watch previous U.S. games, including Thursday's game against Germany, which, despite a loss, ended with the Americans moving to the knock-out round.
The U.S. is 1-4-0 against Belgium.
